Rapper Offset was taken to the hospital after a shooting happened near a casino in Florida on Monday evening. His representative confirmed that he was injured but is now in stable condition.
Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, is well known in the music industry. He was previously married to Cardi B, and the two share three children. He also became famous as one of the members of the rap group Migos.
According to the Seminole Police Department, the shooting took place shortly after 7 p.m. in the valet area outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Police said that two people were taken into custody after the incident. One person was hurt, but the injuries were described as not life-threatening. Authorities did not officially name the victim or the people who were detained.
The injured person was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital for medical care. Officials also said the area was quickly secured.
In a public statement, police said there is no danger to the public and that normal operations at the location are continuing.
Offset became widely known as part of Migos, the Atlanta rap trio that also included Quavo and Takeoff. The group gained major attention with their 2013 hit song “Versace.” They later received Grammy nominations, including a nomination for Best Rap Album for their successful 2018 project “Culture.”
Migos faced a heartbreaking loss in 2022 when Takeoff was shot and killed in Houston. His death came after an argument during a private event at a bowling alley, according to police reports at the time. After that tragedy, the group eventually split up.
The latest news about Offset has shocked many fans, but reports say he is recovering and remains in stable condition.
