Popular Korean comedians Kim Won Hoon and Um Ji Yoon surprised fans with news of a wedding, but the announcement turned out to be part of a special project for their YouTube channel Shortbox.
On March 18, Kim Won Hoon shared an image of a wedding invitation on social media. In the post, he wrote that after “15 years of precious love,” the couple would begin a new chapter together on April 1, 2026. The invitation even included a detailed time and location for the ceremony at a wedding hall in Gangnam, Seoul.
To make the announcement feel more realistic, Kim added a funny detail. He joked that they had spent too much money on their honeymoon, so they could only invite 150 guests. He also shared a guest application link, making the post look even more like a real wedding notice.
However, the story was later revealed to be an April Fools’ Day project connected to Shortbox’s famous content series “Long-Term Relationship.” The wedding event is not real. Kim Won Hoon is already married to a non-celebrity, having tied the knot back in 2022.
Um Ji Yoon also joined the joke by leaving a playful comment under the post, saying, “I will not attend,” which made it clear that the announcement was part of a comedy act.
According to the Shortbox team, the event is actually an offline content shoot created to celebrate the final episode of the “Long-Term Relationship” series. The producers explained that the story built over 15 years has finally reached its ending, and they wanted to turn that final moment into a special real-world event.
They also said that subscribers would be invited to participate as if they were real wedding guests, making the finale more interactive and memorable for fans.
Shortbox, run by Jo Jin Se, Kim Won Hoon, and Um Ji Yoon, is one of Korea’s most popular comedy YouTube channels. It currently has around 3.82 million subscribers.
